The Battle Is Not Yours (Part One)

The Battle Is Not Yours (Part One)

Life is a battle field. Most of the things that we earnestly desire do not actually come so easily. I am speaking, or in this case, writing out of experience. There have been so many good things that I have, with all my heart, wanted to see happen, but time and again I have realized that they don't seem to come cheaply. Being human, it really hurts sometimes. But I always run to the Bible, which is my book of reference, to see how God has always operated and whether or not I am on the right way.  And I have come to understand that the devil is always fighting things that are bound to be good. But thank God for the victory He gives us always.

In the beginning of this year, I had a certain challenge that brought so many fears and tears to my heart. I reached a point where I didn't know what to do, where to go and who to go to. I recall very well that it was a sunny day, and as usual I was in my room trying to figure out the next step, with so much pain in my heart. Then I gathered up my courage (because I really needed it) and took my Bible to just read something. I was hoping to see something in it that would make me feel better - and to tell you the truth, God did not disappoint me>

I came across a passage in the Bible (II Chronicles 20;1-30) that tells the story of Jehoshaphat and how he was confronted with a challenge. He had just received news that  3 nations where coming to wage war against him. That should have come like a blow to him, because immediately he heard the news, the Bible states that "he feared and sought the Lord". I wanted to continue reading the story, but the Holy Spirit said to me "stop there and meditate upon that word!" At first I didn't understand, but as I read the passage more than once, my eyes were now opened. I learnt a lesson from that passage (verse 3). I heard the Lord, through an inner voice say to me "Jehoshaphat did not just win that battle because he praised me, but because he SOUGHT ME FIRST'

You see many times that we are confronted with challenges, we always have the habit of going to seek advice from friends, parents etc. We do this in order to feel relieved. But what we tend to forget many times is that the people we seek advice from are also human, and they can make mistakes by giving us wrong advice. Now don't get me wrong. I am not trying to say that it is a bad thing to seek advice from people, but I want to emphasis on the fact that it is primordial for us to ALWAYS pray and seek God's face before seeking any advice from anyone. Why? Because God has the solution to ANY problem.

Jehoshaphat could not have known the solution to his problem if he had not sought the Lord. The issue about praise-which God gave to him as a solution came after he had cried out to the Lord. Check the scripture very well and observe the sequence of the whole amazing story
- He received news about the battle
- He sought the Lord. And the children of Israel did the same
- The Lord spoke to a certain Jahaziel who was from the family of Levites (priests of the Most High) in their midst about what to do
- They did as God told them
- God gave them victory

From this resume, we see that one thing led to the other. If Jehoshaphat had not cried out to the Lord, there wouldn't have been any solution for him.

I sat down in my room contemplating on the revelation I had just had. It was a wonderful moment for me. And then the Holy Spirit asked me to continue reading, until I came to the passage in verse 15 ".......for the battle is not yours, but the LORD's. I realized from this scripture that many times, we weary ourselves trying to fight battles that we cannot handle. The Holy Spirit, through the inner voice, said to me again "My daughter, every battle that Satan brings across your way is too big for you to handle, you NEED ME". And He is right, I could have never handled it myself, it was too stressful for a mortal human like me.

That day I decided to hand over the battle to the LORD, with praise and singing. I decided to trust God enough to take care of that situation. And to make things even sweeter, I went to church the following day which was a Sunday and our Pastor said these words " the Lord tells me to tell someone here that the battle
is not yours but the Lord's". I went home feeling so happy, and as I am writing to you today, God healed me completely and I am now walking in His peace and joy, always being reminded by the Holy Spirit that He cares for me>

Are you struggling about anything in your life? Do you think there is no solution for it? Please hand over the struggle to the Lord, trust Him enough to let go of it and see how He will respond. God bless you

.......to be continued.....
